Trains

Post by davido » Thu Aug 15, 2019 6:39 pm

Anybody know if its possible to put the bike on a train in Europe? I fancy heading down to Spain next year but traveling from Holland,(and back) that would take a good few days out of my holiday. Has anyone any experience doing this?

Hi davido,
Austrian railways offers opportunities between Germany and Austria. Don't think there's much for your route but check it out at www.oebb.at. French railways has interesting offers: as far as I was able to figure out, however, they'll transport your bike but not you to destination, implying you'll have to organize for the bike and for yourself separately (https://nl.oui.sncf/nl/). German railways used to transport bikes, but they probably scrapped such service a couple of years ago. That's all I know, if you happen to get more info please post them (or PM me), I also interested. Cheers,

Thanks for the reply flowerdale. I had a look at your links but the wrong side of France for me. I did a bit of googling and found this;
https://www.seat61.com/Motorail.htm
Some good information,might be interesting to you and others.
Im thinking though,that it might be easier to get the boat to England, hop across to Portsmouth or Southampton and get another boat to the north of Spain. Ill have to look at prices,mileage,time and figure out whats the best deal.
