For Spain, the .gpx file is bigger (10 mb) to show on google maps, (maximum 5 mb)

The solution:
Convert the .gpx file to kml. In this web it do online: https://gpx2kml.com/
And now, upload the .kml file to google maps.
It works!!!

I believe you have to enable the track recording widget first so look in settings somewhere
I do not know about this yet. I just loaded the app on my phone and played with it while riding. Google maps is better in this because OsmAnd does not seem to follow you as you move over the map natively (no track active)
I also have not yet tried to record a track. Seems not so obvious how to do this but I found something in the menus that looked like could be it. Need to test more.

Code: Select all

what ist your AP on the androide phone to use the OSM maps ?
@Explorer, I am not sure what you are asking me. What is AP?
To make OsmAnd follow your position just push the round little button on the bottom right it will turn gray
To record a gpx track just click the gpx on the top right . But the recording plugin must be activated on the settings

Will have to try this out.
Problem with testing is that I do not have a track that I can use in my local area
I will try this out next time I am on the road.
Thanks

Just make one yourself . Turn on gpx tracking when going to work or supermarket or whatever . Then use that track to guide you home

Yes but that was exactly what was missing. I did not get to a point I could make my own GPX track. Chicken and Egg
Thanks anyway. I think I know what to do now.
